He wasn't asked that question. Instead LaptopMag asked: "Some users on the Unofficial magicJack Forum have asked for the ability to plug the unit directly into a router; is this a possible future addition?"

That's to show LaptopMag knows jack about MagicJack Smile

That is a nice article "Are you planning on offering number portability?

DB: We do plan to offer number portability. It is not available yet but in the coming months, you will be able to port your number for a nominal fee.

How much will porting a number cost?

DB: $10."

Also 75 area codes to be added within the next 45 days.

I will be very glad when this happens - MJ is the ONLY reason I use windows.

Ain't it the truth. I'd have already thrown this machine in the trash if it wasn't for my MagicJack too. Does that mean it's also good for the environment since it's keeping one more computer out of the landfill?

Um, do you guys not have a VM you can run windows in? That's what I do if I'm desperate, but it works just fine as a sound device in ubuntu 8.04 as long as you have your SIP info for a softphone. Annoyance: must click the answer button to pick up the call, cannot just pick up the phone, and also cannot dial from the phone. Also the phone does not ring, and if I set the ringer to the phone it sends the ringer to the headset instead.

Getting past that, I spoke with them yesterday and they actually told me that they have their engineers working on this as well which was quite a surprise, and I'm very happy about this. I would love to have a softphone which works as well with a real phone attached as the MJ in windows does and am hoping that they can do this.

Finally, does anyone else think that DB looks like Beau Bridges?

That's not Beau Bridges. It's a photo of Jeb Bush at a Beau Bridges look-alike contest.

In the city were I live, the trash collectors are reffered to as "Sanitation Engineers". So yes, in that vernacular YMAX does indeed have engineers.

Have you ever dialed a number that didn't exist? My softphone handles names in a strange way so if I just type a name without quotes it won't fill it in for me and I hit enter doing this one time. The result: "Hi, this is the YMAX communication center test call" or something like that. The guy sounds like he's in 20s, a little overweight, and a big old goatee and beard around his mouth. I also picture him sitting there with a box of pizza...

Is this different than the Ymax "this test was successful". or there about. Hey, pizza's good food, as long as its not from Dominoes or some other greasy cardboard vendor. I'm old, but fit as a fiddle, and I eat Pizza at least once a week. But I know where to get the good stuff. Very Happy
