Between You-Tube and the thirty minute info-mercial I watched this morning on TV and the lack of FAQ on the majicjack.com site I still don't know if I will still be paying for "PHONE SERVICE" ??? The ad says no more phone bills; but looks to me like I will still have to pay all the regular phone bills and my internet bill and then I'll have to pay for this device too ?!?
I already have Free Local and Long Distance with Comcast Cable so how would this be any cheaper, sounds to me like just another bill !!!???!!!
I would love to just pay a once a year fee and be done with it all, and if Net10 wasn't run by a bunch of idiots I'd still have my prepaid cell phone with no monthly fees !
This all sounds so good and we all know they could make it all work a lot better and be as cheap as $20 a year, but some how I think I smell a rat and just haven't figured out where !!!
[b]So do I or don't I have to pay for regular phone service from the phone company + Internet +plus this annual fee for Magic Jack* ???????? |

| I've had the Magicjack for a year now and I love it. All you have to pay for is the magicjack for 40 dollars that comes with a year for free then additional years as of right now cost 20 dollars. So if you buy the magicjack for 40 you don't get a bill that whole year then if you want to renew your year its 20 dollars and yes you do have to have high speed internet. |

If you decide to keep all your existing services, then yes, MJ will be an additional bill, but you may decide it's worth it. It will be an extra line, so that e.g. you and your wife or girlfriend can make or receive calls at the same time. You can travel with MJ (not possible with Comcast Digital Voice), so you can make and receive calls at no charge from wherever broadband service is available. The extra number could be used for the kids, or to keep personal and home business calls separate.
If you drop Comcast Digital Voice in favor of MJ, you should be able to save some money; your cable bill will probably be $30 to $40 less each month. Howver, MJ is presently not as reliable as CDV, so you'll need to decide whether you have an adequate backup (conventional landline, cellular, etc.) in case of emergency. |

MagicJack is what it is. You plug it into a computer that's turned on and has broadband internet service. From there it works like a regular telephone. If your internet service goes down, or you shut off your computer, your telephone service stops until you get back online.
For the life of me, I can't figure out how people can waste their time complaining because this is different from a regular $50/mon AT&T phone service. Christ - it's $20/yr. If you want a service that runs through your computer, then buy it and shut up. If not, then pay $50/mon or $100/mon. Stop bitching. _________________ LiveAid |
