|
|
I'm having trouble getting VOIPDiscount and IPKall/Gizmo project set up. I get it all set up and can call out from my ATA, but when I want to receve calls from my GC number, sometimes it works, but other times/most of the time I get dead air. I was wondering if anyone knew what may be causing this.
Thanks
Kumar
P.S-I put this in the lounge because it has nothing to do with Magicjack |

| Maybe the problem is your router's NAT association timing out. Try setting a NAT keep-alive, or setting the registration expiry to e.g. 50 seconds. |

| Yes, most ATAs have a setting that will force re-registration at shorter intervals than the expiry sent by the provider. On PAP2, etc., it's called Register Expires. If your ATA doesn't have such a setting, it probably has a way to send keep-alive packets. |

Yes, yes I know I have that field....I was just clarifying what you were talking about. What should I set it to? 50 secs?
Thanks
Kumar

| Stewart I have a similar problem I can not seem to get gizmo and voxalot to play nice together. If I forward me incoming calls to myid@voxalot.com from the gizmo software I can get it to ring. When I answer all I get is dead air and the phone continues to ring on the other end. If I try and configure voxalot with my gizmo credentials the phone never rings. Am I missing something or are the 2 services incompatible? |

This sounds like it might be a NAT issue. Please tell me what make and model of network address translator you are using and what firmware is in it, plus tell me the hardware version. Is it Linksys by any chance?

I wish I'm using a Trendnet TEW-432BR (something like that) I dont ever remember seeing anything about NAT in the router settings. If I remember correctly tho voxalot has NAT on or off settings. Might be something \to look into. I just assumed that the codecs are incompatable hence the dead air. If you are bored M5 and got 10 mins see if you can configure the 2 to work together. I'm trying to call my grandcentral # which should ring my gizmo which is forwarded to my voxalot account which is on my ATA |

| make 3 accounts. GC, Gizmo, and Voxalot. Set up Gizmo to forward all calls to voxalot in the softphone. Set up grand central to ring your Gizmo. So in theory your Grand central number will call gizmo but it sends the call to voxalot on the forward. I can get that to ring but no sounds when answering |
