If purchase too much, when they terminate your jack, you will loose a lot of money.

It's just the opposite here. I could pay a hundred bucks and the thing would pay for itself within two months. I called my sister in Texas yesterday and talked for three hours (gawd, my ear still hurts), which would be $13 for one call alone. If they tank, I've already made my money from them so I wouldn't lose any sleep. I hope they stay though because I'm really coming to enjoy the little blue light that doubles as a night light for my office.

I bought the five year (four year) service plan as well. The only thing is I never got the promo code to enter it under my account page. It's going on almost two months now, and I have tech chatted with them every week, with them always telling me it will show up in a few days and nothing. I have even emailed Dan, but have not herd back anything.

Other then all that I am happy with MJ.

I've had MJ since mid February and am quite satisfied. Only a single noisy call, all other's perfect and that hasn't been my experience with other VoIP services (ATA and USB dondle-based). I just added the additional 3 years of service, the max available to an existing customer. I would recommend new customers take the max plan available to them at sign-up.

Let's see, $49.95 @ $3.67/gallon of gas would get my van about ~14 gallons and @ 11MPG would last a whooping 154 miles or about 2 days of normal driving Laughing Laughing Laughing

It sure did sound inviting to get the 5 year plan and I had it checked at first but then they would have charged me right away and I really wanted to test it for the 30days first. I used to have Vonage 2 years ago and was not very happy with it. However I read in another forum (don't know if that is true or not) that you can still buy the advanced years later on after testing. So if that is the case and it works then I would definitely do that. One reason is ...... if they offer it I wonder if maybe they plan on raising the price in the future......that way I would be locked in for the next 5 years and not have to worry about a bill or a increase in the yearly fee. I have not received mine yet I am really hoping for it to come in the mail tomorrow. Laughing

Shocked

I purchased two magic jacks with the 5 years plans and could not enter the premium plan codes (forgot to take off pop-up blocking) and asked a tech named "Glenda" to asist. She entered both codes under one jack so 1 jack expires in 2017 the other in 2009. I had been chatting with techs and supervisors everyday until I get this smart alec named "Kenneth" that tells me theres nothing anyone can do to fix the problem and to "enjoy my magic jack til 2017." When I asked if he could switch me to a supervisor he refused, when I asked for an RMA number to return the jacks he would not provide one. When I told him I will record the chat and forward it to my credit card company as proof that magic jack has refused to resolve this issue he gave me the link to the returns page. Needless to say I copied the entire chat, called my credit card company and cancelled the charge. Went to my.magicjack.com/returns.html and got an RMA number and will return both jacks.

It's kind of idiotic for magic jack to hire inept bafoons that string you along until the thirty-day period is up and at that time its too late to get a credit refund. I didn't have any problem with the magic jack, and probably would have kept them both if they could have corrected the problem (or at least offer to provide another valid premium plan code since it was their error to begin with). They kept insisting that the issue was being forwarded to their "Engineering Dept," unfortunately, there is no Engineering Dept just a bunch of minimum wage drones that are instructed not to take any returns.

I'm sure several of you computer wizards on this site could probably build your own "magic jacks" with a hand full of parts from Radio Shack. I'm staying tuned til one of you figures it out and sells them off this blog at half the cost, that can call anywhere on the planet for free.

Laughing Shocked Laughing

I had purchased two(2) magicJacks as I described on the above post. I had finally been pointed to the returns link for an RMA Number at: http://my.magicjack.com/returns.html by the magicjack rep after stating in the chat that I had recorded the session and that I would forward it to my credit card company as proof that magicjack was not trying to resolve the issue or provide an RMA Number. I had no complaint about the product, it did everything that it promised except their tech screwed up my premium plan codes and entered both under one jack so that one jack expired 2017 and the other in 2009. After repeated chats with reps and supervisors and escalations, nothing was ever done to correct their error.

Today I logged in to my credit card account and noticed that a credit in the amount of $93.80 and not the $197.65 for the entire amount of the charge was posted. Upon calling my credit card company they provided the following phone number (561) 594-2140. When I tried to contact someone I was placed into voicemail and provided with a lenghty message and at the end was given a phone number (281) 404-1551. I was finally connected to a magicjack representative that explained that the original credit on the account was for the returned merchandise and a subsequent credit for the two 5 year premium plans would be forthcoming. The only amount $3.95 for express shipping would not be refunded. When I pressed the issue and stated that I had to pay to return the merchandise she added a note to the account stating that the total credit would include the $3.95 I had paid for express shipping when ordering.

I am still a little weary that magicjack will live up to its word but my credit card company has already disputed the entire amount and I have little to lose except another phone call or two to magicjack and my credit card company to conclude this matter.

To those of you that have kept your magic jacks I think you made a wise choice. It isn't a bad product for the $19.95 per year. For those who are not satisfied with the product and have been run through the ringer with magic jack chat and gotten nowhere, please use the above link to obtain your RMA Number and if you still get no satisfaction, call the (281) 404-1551 number and speak directly to a representative about returning your magic jack(s).

In the end, I hope they train their techs to better assist their clients, and I hope they've read the letter I sent with the returned merchandise and fire Kenneth.
